Introducing golf and using the game to enhance veterans physical, mental and social well-being!

100 Holes for HOPE Golf Marathon

On Friday, August 25th at The Town of Colonie Golf Course, Noel Gebauer, PGA & Christian Torres, PGA Associate will be embarking on a golf marathon of playing 100 Holes for HOPE to help raise funds to cover the expenses of the PGA HOPE programming for our local veterans because it is all complimentary. The two professionals will be playing 100 holes of golf in a head to head match play format in a friendly competitive event from dawn to dusk. Each HOPE program costs approximately $5,500-$10,000 in funding to operate depending on length and attendance.

All donors will receive a live scoring link to follow along with the 100 hole match as well as real time videos during the competition!

PGA HOPE’s Goals are to:

  1. Create a safe environment for Veterans and their families and establish relationships of trust with PGA Professionals
  2. Have fun and encourage a culture of camaraderie
  3. Teach Veterans the basics of golf including etiquette and course management
  4. Empower Veterans to feel confident playing golf on their own after the program
  5. Ensure year round programming opportunities as well as progressive programming
  • PGA HOPE serves as the military pillar of PGA REACH, and a rehabilitative program designed to introduce golf to veterans with disabilities in order to enhance their physical, mental, social and emotional well-being.
  • PGA HOPE is the only golf program for veterans taught by PGA Professionals trained in VA-Approved Adaptive Sports Instruction.
  • The mission of PGA REACH is to positively impact lives by enabling access to PGA Professionals, PGA Sections and the game of golf.
  • Each PGA HOPE program requires $5,500-$7,500 in funding to operate the 5-7 week program.
  • We have huge aspirations to offer programming year round, grow our program chapters throughout the section geographically, grow participation #s in each, offer post-graduate programming, in addition to helping secure our veteran golfers with equipment and specialized/adaptive equipment needs.

22 A Day Awareness Marathon

Teeing off behind the pros will be PGA HOPE graduate Roland (Bud) Abare! He will be playing 22 Holes to bring awareness to the 22 Veterans that commit suicide every day. PGA HOPE is the only accredited Golf therapy program through the VA where PGA Professionals are creating an outlet for veterans to get away and enjoy the game at no cost and support them through the game we love! All donors will receive a live scoring link to follow along with the 100 hole match as well as real time videos during the competition!

Rhonda Liddell: It is my personal mission to help introduce my fellow Veterans and their families to the game of Golf! This program was life-altering for me and I want to share it with everyone. You never know who just might need this.
